HAND SLAP

(TOPIC: FAILING FORWARD)

 

Instructions

  • ALL STUDENTS IN A CIRCLE, DOWN ON THE FLOOR.

  • PUT YOUR HANDS FLAT ON THE GROUND IN FRONT OF THE PERSON EITHER SIDE OF YOU (RIGHT HAND IN FRONT OF THE PERSON ON YOUR RIGHT, LEFT HAND IN FRONT OF THE PERSON ON YOUR LEFT).

  • EACH HAND IN TURN PATS/SLAPS THE GROUND, IN ORDER.  START CLOCKWISE.

  • A DOUBLE SLAP CHANGES THE DIRECTION OF THE HANDS.

  • HANDS THAT MISS OR SLAP OUT OF ORDER ARE ELIMINATED.

  • LAST PERSON STANDING (OR SLAPPING, IN THIS CASE) WINS.

VARIATIONS

  • CROSS ARMS, AND THEN PUT HANDS FLAT ON THE GROUND (RIGHT HAND IN FRONT OF THE PERSON ON YOUR LEFT, LEFT HAND IN FRONT OF THE PERSON ON YOUR RIGHT).

 

DEBRIEF: HOW DID IT FEEL TO MAKE A MISTAKE? WHY SHOULD GET COMFORTABLE MAKING MISTAKES WITH DIFFICULT THINGS. REFLECT: IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO LIVE WITHOUT FAILING AT SOMETHING, UNLESS YOU LIVE SO CAUTIOUSLY THAT YOU MIGHT AS WELL NOT HAVE LIVED AT ALL- IN WHICH CASE, YOU FAIL BY DEFAULT.” JK ROWLING.
