Our team at UPP are well aware- THIS IS WAR. I keep saying it. It has long been a fire in my belly. Even before I was an Assistant Principal, I had a burning desire to help young people THRIVE in their lives, not just in the classroom.
The work that I’m lucky enough to do now, the work that you do each day- it’s not just a job, it’s not just a career, it’s not just fun and play, although it is all of those things. It is however, much more than that. It’s a war that is fuelled with passion and purpose. At UPP we are fighting the good fight, and we are honoured to partner with hundreds of schools around the country to help them in the fight too.
So what WAR are we fighting?
We are fighting against:
Myths in our culture about leadership- what it is, and what it isn’t.
Myths about talent, success and hard work.
Mental illness and low mental health.
Low personal responsibility and people not realising what is in their circle of control.
Passive leadership by leaders who want to be served.
People dragging other people down and creating a culture where that is the norm.
We are fighting for:
Kindness instead of bullying.
Teamwork instead of individualism.
Enthusiasm & zest rather than Apathy and disengagement.
Giving instead of taking.
To help people step up and expand their circle of influence.
Kids to have the social skills to help them navigate their world.
Living by design instead of by default. By choice and not by chance.
Skills we all need to thrive in our lives at and beyond school- in the real world.
Positive influence, example and action by leaders who want to serve others.
People who take ownership and responsibility, rather than make excuses and blame others.
People to be empowered and encouraged to stand up and lead.
For equality and valuing differences.
Life, hope, love, goodness.
THIS IS WAR...This is a war to Unleash the Personal Potential of every person. And it starts within each of us. It’s not easy, but it’s worth it.
