POSITIVE IMPACT PROJECT - SESSION 5:

THINKING GLOBALLY, ACTING LOCALLY

Think Globally, look and act locally. In this session we look into the 17 Sustainable Development Goals introduced by the United Nations. You are all encouraged to think on a global level while looking at how you may be able to do something on a local level. You may not be able to end poverty, fix world hunger, or give everyone a great education. However, you can make a difference at a local level by having a positive impact on others in your community.

Leaders, you are to watch the first video, which briefly explains each of the goals, and then move onto the second video.

β€œIF YOU CARE ABOUT THE FUTURE, BE THE CHANGE. HELP TO END POVERTY, TO REDUCE INEQUALITIES AND TO TACKLE CLIMATE CHANGE. TOGETHER, WE CAN TRANSFORM THE WORLD.”

ACTIONS TO TAKE:

  • After looking at the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (image below), turn to page 7 in your Positive Impact Project workbook. Here, you are to first think about the big picture and then think at a more local level. Take time to really consider each question. Once your entire group has completed this page, have a group discussion about each question and begin to think about a project you may be able to run to have a positive impact on your community.
