POSITIVE PEER RELATIONSHIPS ONLINE WORKSHOP

UPP IS NOW EQUIPPING YOUNG AUSTRALIANS TO BUILD QUALITY, LASTING FRIENDSHIPS THROUGH ONLINE WORKSHOPS

best FOR YEAR 5 OR YEAR 6 STUDENTS

Positive Peer Relationships is an engaging and interactive workshop designed to help students build personal and social skills to enhance the quantity and quality of our interpersonal interactions. This program is a workshop consisting of 2 x 60 minute sessions, facilitated by our experienced UPP team, live and online, over one day in your own classroom. This particular workshop has a specific focus on on investing in positive friendships and using skills to respond in a healthy way to conflict.

SKILLS DEVELOPED AND CONCEPTS COVERED:

  • THE POWER OF EMPATHY- focussing on standing as one, respect and appreciating differences.

  • BULLYING & THE SCIENCE OF KINDNESS- learning about the potential impacts of bullying and kindness, on others and on ourselves.

  • ACTIVE LISTENING- practical skills for strengthening relationships.

  • CONFLICT RESOLUTION- learning how to be assertive, rather than passive or aggressive.

  • TEAM WORK- Working collaboratively in teams to achieve more. Structured opportunities to apply what has been learned.

In building this program the UPP team has specifically considered how to take the best parts from our Face to Face programs to make this online workshop practical, engaging, fun and useful for your staff and students during these difficult and unpredictable times. We have also taken into account the most current Covid-19 Government guidelines to ensure this workshop is safe for all involved. You can find UPP’s Covid Smart Statement HERE >>

I must say that I was apprehensive about hosting the Leading from the Front workshop with the hosts virtually. The session exceeded my expectations- the students got a lot out of the workshop and are very inspired to action their ideas. Even though we thanked them as a group on the day, please pass on my heartfelt thanks to Cody and Dylan for making this session work on a screen, but they both did an exemplary job at it.

— Tania Lloyd, Deputy Principal, Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College
The incursion was great and we were grateful for all of the adjustments that were made to do this online. The students were happy with the day and felt engaged. We had some parent feedback saying that the children really enjoyed the activities and found it useful. We are going to go back and use the leadership booklets in our SEL lessons this term.
— Teacher- St Patrick's Kilmore, Victoria
On behalf of the Year 5 Teachers, we would like to thank you for an incredibly engaging and thought provoking session last Friday. Our children were able to make many connections about what was being said and we’ve been able to reiterate these ideas in our classrooms. We were concerned at first about the sessions being on Zoom however we feel that you facilitated these brilliantly. Thank you again for a wonderful leadership experience- we got a lot out of it as well as the children.
— Bianca Niutta & Belinda Zappia, Sacred Heart Primary School, Mildura

Details and pricing

The investment for this engaging and transformative incursion and included follow-up material is $15+GST/student (minimum investment of $1,125+GST/day). The incursion is run live and online by UPP with a whole cohort of students broken into smaller class groups. We recommend the use of the Google Meet platform for this specific workshop, however we will do our best to accomodate preferred platforms your school may have.

As we use a learning, action, reflection process throughout the sessions, the best venue for this workshop is to have class groups in their own classroom with the furniture pushed to the sides of the room. For the greatest impact, we recommend that classroom teachers are present and involved for the whole day, as this assists in making the program more engaging but also has many benefits to the students and school moving forward.
