POSITIVE IMPACT

FOR SENIOR STUDENTS AND LEADERS

By Unleashing Personal Potential

HELPING YOUR STUDENTS TO MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT IN 2021

UPP’s Positive Impact package for Primary schools is a transformative, flexible package for schools who want an AUTHENTIC, RELEVANT, LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT EXPERIENCE for their students.

This package has been designed to help your student leaders to:

  • Lead by example, service and action;

  • Build healthy relationships with their peers;

  • Develop a positive school culture;

  • Make a positive, lasting impact in the school community by implementing a POSITIVE IMPACT PROJECT;

  • Experience genuine, authentic opportunities for all of your senior students to contribute and serve the school community;

  • Improve collaboration, teamwork skills, respect, listening skills and empathy;

  • Focus on contribution and improving the world by thinking globally and acting locally.

If your students work in groups / ministries / portfolios / committees with certain responsibilities (eg environment, sport, culture, community, house spirit, faith leadership), the POSITIVE IMPACT package will give them the scaffolding and support to make their project a success. Some examples of these student-led projects that UPP have supported in the past include building a buddy bench, designing and painting a mural of school values on a wall, creating a sustainable garden somewhere in the school, creating a new code of conduct for students, designing a new school map for visitors and new students, running a special fundraising, sporting or cultural event. The online component consists of 8 short modules (30-60 minutes each), that teachers are able to lead with their students at times that are suitable for their school.

SAMPLE TEACHER RESOURCE

While there are 100’s of things that make us busy as leaders, there are only a few that make a difference. There is no better time than now for leaders to be making a positive difference.

SAMPLE MODULE 8- PITCH PERFECT

This session focusses on public speaking and starting with the "why?". Learning and practicing the 6 simple verbal and non-verbal tools for communicating our message in a way that connects with our audience and inspires action.

SAMPLE MODULE 10- CELEBRATING SUCCESS

Once your students have completed the POSITIVE IMPACT PROJECT, we would love for your students to let us know about it (via video presentation or written article).

This is an important opportunity for students to reflect on what they learned through the project, and consolidate their leadership development.

We'd also love to celebrate their success through our Positive Impact Challenge- where we will announce the schools and projects that had the greatest positive impact. We'll be announcing the Positive Impact winner for the school and project that had the greatest positive impact.

Invite your students to complete a short reflection. They may like to use some of the questions below as a guide. Submit the best video presentation or written article to us at admin@unleashingpersonalpotential.com.au

Entries for 2021 will close on Friday, September 3.

Reflection Questions about the Positive Impact Project and our learning:

  1. What was the issue you were addressing?

  2. Outline the project completed at your school (may use video, photos, poster, dance, dramatic re-enactment, statistics, etc. to show outcomes).

  3. What outcomes were achieved? How did it have a positive impact?

  4. Challenges? Successes?

  5. Major learnings of the group or individuals throughout the process.

  6. Application of the learning to other areas (assignments, time management, working in teams, communication, delegation / responsibility)?
