MODULE 9 - MAKING A POSITIVE IMPACT

HELPING STUDENT LEADERS HAVE A POSITIVE IMPACT

Leadership is all about serving and supporting others, lifting others up and having a positive impact on those around us in our community. Sometimes, as leaders, we can struggle with this task as we don’t have the proper resources, frameworks or guidance. The Positive Impact Project is all about guiding you, as leaders, through a process of learning what leadership is all about, how to run a project from start to finish, how to communicate with your community and, most importantly, how to have a Positive Impact in the world.

Find the links to the 10 modules below, be sure to save your Positive Impact Project workbook, and let's get started on the journey of making that Positive Impact happen now!

UPP’s Positive Impact Project for secondary students is a transformative, flexible program for student leaders who want an AUTHENTIC, RELEVANT, LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT EXPERIENCE.

This program has been designed to help student leaders:

  • Lead by example, service and action;

  • Build healthy relationships with peers;

  • Develop a positive school culture;

  • Make a positive, lasting impact in the school community by implementing a POSITIVE IMPACT PROJECT;

  • Experience genuine, authentic opportunities for all leaders to contribute and serve the school community;

  • Improve collaboration, teamwork skills, respect, listening skills and empathy;

  • Focus on contribution and improving the world by thinking globally and acting locally.

If your students work in groups / ministries / portfolios / committees with certain responsibilities (eg environment, sport, culture, community, house spirit, faith leadership), the POSITIVE IMPACT PROJECT will give them the scaffolding and support to make their project a success. Some examples of these student-led projects that UPP have supported in the past include building a buddy bench, designing and painting a mural of school values on a wall, creating a sustainable garden somewhere in the school, creating a new code of conduct for students, designing a new school map for visitors and new students, or running a special fundraising, sporting or cultural event. The online component consists of 10 short modules (30-60 minutes each), that teachers are able to lead with their students at times that are suitable for their school.

“It is a highlight of the year working with the UPP team. They consistently deliver a highly engaging, tailored program that empowers students to believe they can achieve great things and make positive impacts in their school community.”
— Dylan Sulzer - Acting Head of Department - Junior School - Kelvin Grove State College
“Unleashing Personal Potential’s Positive Impact Program allowed our aspiring student leaders to develop knowledge and skills to influence their peers and deliver a project for their school community. They worked in teams to identify how they could have a positive impact through their actions and learnt so much through the reflection and evaluation process that is built into program. Practical, fun, challenging and potentially life changing. The presenters connected with our students and gave direction, but our students delivered the impact. Highly recommended for all schools.”
— Tracey Hopper - Head of School - Cleveland District SHS
“It has been a pleasure working with UPP over the past four years with the City Cluster Student Leadership program. This program supports student leaders from 14 different schools to develop and lead an impact project that benefits their entire school community. The workshops are positive, full of energy and offer direction and strategies for effective leadership and project planning. I highly recommend UPP to any school wanting to grow their student leadership culture.”
— Deb Williamson- Deputy Principal- Queensland Academy of Creative Industries and Coordinator of the City Cluster Leadership Program
“This is not just about the positive impact the UPP team will have on your students, it is about the positive impact your students will have on the world.”
— Luke McKenna- Founder- Unleashing Personal Potential
