FOR STUDENT LEADERS

HELPING YOUR STUDENT LEADERS TO MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT IN 2020

These are challenging times for all leaders around the world. One challenge I have heard from many schools is that current student leaders have not had the opportunity to lead their school as they may have hoped. They have effectively lost one full term, from an already busy year. They have less time to make an impact. But all is not lost.

While there are 100’s of things that make us busy as leaders, there are only a few that make a difference. There is no better time than now for leaders to be making a positive difference.

GETTING YOUR STUDENT LEADERS BACK ON TRACK

If you would like us to help your leaders get BACK ON TRACK at this time, register for this FREE video series. This has been designed to help them have a positive impact with the limited time they have as leaders of your school.

SESSION TOPICS

  • SESSION 1- GETTING IDEAS INTO ACTION- developing action plans for our major leadership projects- using UPP's idea to action framework that has been honed over the last 10 years and used to great effect in hundreds of Australian schools.

  • SESSION 2- PITCH PERFECT- public speaking and starting with the "why?". Learning and practicing the 6 simple verbal and non-verbal tools for communicating our message in a way that connects with our audience and inspires action.

FORMAT

  1. You will be sent TWO SHORT VIDEOS (10-15 mins), along with our IDEA TO ACTION FRAMEWORK and related resources. The videos feature Cody Kilpatrick, UPP’s specialist leadership coach, for sharing with your leaders. The videos (and resources) will be sent on Monday June 15 and June 22, and you will have one month to share them with your students, before we take them down.

  2. The videos are designed for you to use them in TEAM MEETINGS with your student leaders. Share these videos with the students, and then have them complete the frameworks or practices we provide, based on their role within your school and the POSITIVE IMPACT PROJECT they want to implement. A POSITIVE IMPACT PROJECT is an event or idea that student leaders are wanting to implement in their school as part of their role, that will enhance some part of school life for others in the community.

  3. Additionally, we will provide some support and FEEDBACK to a limited number of schools who engage fully in this process. This will help them to make a POSITIVE IMPACT in your school community.

  4. On completion of the POSITIVE IMPACT PROJECT at your school, we would love for you to let us know about it (via video presentation or written article, created by your student leaders). We want to CELEBRATE THE SUCCESS of your students.

INVESTMENT (COMPLIMENTARY FOR A LIMITED TIME)

As this has been part of our response to the coronavirus pandemic and the adjustments that schools are needing to make, we are delighted to offer this to your school FOR FREE in 2020. We just ask for your commitment to support your own students, as they seek to make a POSITIVE IMPACT. If you would like for your students to get BACK ON TRACK with UPP and make a POSITIVE IMPACT, we would love you to get on board now.

STUDENT FEEDBACK

"Through this experience, I have learned about time management, having a deadline to complete tasks, organising meetings, working in teams, communicating ideas to a group of people, and taking responsibility- having the success or failure of this project potentially lie in your team’s hands." - Student Feedback

"Thank you so much for everything that you’ve done to make our project a success. We really did learn a lot from this, and actually way more than expected. Now that I look back at our journey, it was probably one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. Also, I would really recommend younger students to be a part of this program – you get to see the world through the eyes of a leader!"- Student Feedback

"I strongly believe that this experience will greatly help with my communication skills in team assignments. It will help me become a leader of the teams and work / communicate with everyone so that we will be able to achieve the best results. I also believe that learning these skills could help other people understand how to utilise these skills to their best ability."- Student Feedback

"The information and skills I have taken out of this experience has helped in other areas too. It has helped with assignments, time management, working in teams, responsibilities, confidence and with being a leader and stepping up and helping. I have had so much fun, but I am glad to have taken some positive things out of it that can help in the future. I have learnt that if you want to achieve great things in life and succeed you have to put in hard work, be motivated, put in time and effort and give 100% because not everything comes easy." - Student Feedback

"Some personal successes that I believe I experienced was pulling the project together. I really surprised myself when I stepped up and took charge. Everyone was amazing when we worked together as a team, and it was great to be part of this experience." - Student Feedback
